Summer Program 2020
Unfortunately, there will be no Summer Water Safety weeks, swim weeks or lifesaving training taking place this summer due to Covid-19.
We know many parents, children and volunteers will be disappointed that their annual weeks of making friends and learning new skills won’t be taking place but we will be back and we look forward to seeing you all again soon!
If you do visit a beach or water within your travel restrictions don’t forget your 14 steps for safe swimming.
Stay Local – Stay safe!
What is our Summer Program?
Water Safety Ireland – Wexford runs a busy summer programme which consists of Water Safety weeks and Swim Weeks across Wexford each summer.
All details for our Summer Program is released in April/May each year.
Our Water Safety classes are for anyone aged 10+ where participants will learn and develop skills in rescue, water safety, survival and resuscitation.
As a coastal county with miles of scenic beaches, it is important that we learn about how to stay safe and enjoy our trips to the beach.
There are 8 levels from Safety 1 up to Rescue 4, with participants being able to progress into specialised courses such as Beach and Pool lifeguards.
Each course runs for a week with an exam on the final day.
Swimmers must be 10 years of age.
Cost is €50 per swimmer. Family discounts available for 3+ siblings.
Water Safety Venues:
- Ferrybank Swimming Pool
- New Ross
Swim weeks offer children an opportunity to practise swimming in open water. Our instructors aim to help children grow their confidence in the open water along with improving their swimming strokes.
On the last day of the week swimmers will complete an exam.
Certificates are awarded when each level is passed.
