WSI – Wexford runs Beach lifeguard courses and revalidation courses each year. The course runs over 1 week with an exam at the end of the course.
The WSI Beach lifeguard Award aims to train candidates to surf awareness and beach patrolling, rescue skills and Basic Life Support along with awareness of first aid.
Once successful the candidate will have to revalidate their award every two years.
Beach lifeguarding can provide paid employment during the Summer season along with allowing you to make a valuable contribution to the local community.
Wexford County Council employees beach lifeguards each year to patrol the counties main beaches; Ballinesker, Ballymoney, Courtown, Curracloe, Duncannon, Morriscastle, Rosslare.
As Water Safety Ireland is a full member of the International Lifesaving Federation our BLG award allows you to not only work as a lifeguard in Ireland but you the ability to save lives worldwide.
– IWS Rescue 2 and BLS 3 or equivalent.
– Minimum age of 16 years.
– Candidates must have satisfactory attendance.
– Course fee payable before course start date.
